The Nature Trail

Our Nature Trail is a beautiful 2.5km round walk from the campsite, through the farm fields and along the old, dismantled Mid Wales Railway line. The Trail runs through lush woodland along the River Llynfi, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its rare fauna and flora, where Otters, Kingfishers, Badgers and an array of woodland birds have all been seen. Wild flowers are scattered along the trail creating plenty of perfect picnic spots along the way!

The Mid Wales railway ran from Llanidloes to Brecon and was opened in 1864 and was joined by the Hereford to Brecon line at Three Cocks Junction. Parts of the railway were built along the line of the earlier 1818 Brecon to Eardisly horse drawn tram road. Parts of the tram road track have been found on the farm. The railway finally closed in 1962.
